FOND DU LAC – A Marathon woman’s attempt to flee a traffic stop Dec. 28 lasted less than a mile and ended in her arrest.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release a deputy tried to stop the vehicle for an equipment violation on Johnson Street near Hickory Street at around 9:30 p.m. Sunday. The deputy requested the woman exit the vehicle, but she refused and eventually put the vehicle in drive and fled the stop at a high speed.

The deputy returned to his vehicle and began to pursue the vehicle. The suspect vehicle traveled a short distance, reaching speeds of approximately 70 mph, and ultimately came to a stop west of Seymour Street.
Deputies and Fond du Lac police boxed the vehicle in to prevent further escape, and the driver was taken into custody without incident.
Authorities suspected the woman had thrown something from the vehicle while fleeing and were able to walk the area and locate illegal contraband.
