Man killed in overnight hit-skip: Cleveland police

CLEVELAND (WJW) — An approximately 35-year-old man was killed early Saturday morning after police said he was hit by a vehicle police believe was speeding and lost control.

According to Cleveland police, the crash happened around 2:45 a.m. in the 13900 block of Lorain Ave. That’s where police found the victim lying unconscious in the road.

Cleveland EMS arrived on scene and rendered medical aid to the victim before he was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The preliminary investigation shows the man was walking on Lorain Ave. when the vehicle “believed to be traveling above the posted speed limit, lost control and struck him,” police said.

The suspect vehicle left the scene before police arrived.
