White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt has often been accused by critics of delivering North Korea–style propaganda on behalf of her boss, President Donald Trump.
On Wednesday, some suggested she’d taken the comparison a step further by dressing the part too.
Social media users joked that Leavitt’s outfit for a White House press briefing bore a resemblance (in its color at the very least) to the signature look of North Korean state TV anchor Ri Chun-hee, whose bombastic broadcasts defending the so-called Hermit Kingdom’s dictator Kim Jong Un have for years gone viral online.
“Leavitt was wearing Ri Chun-hee’s outfit today,” journalist Aaron Rupar joked on X, the Elon Musk-owned platform formerly known as Twitter, in a post that racked up more than 300,000 views.

Writer Hemant Mehta echoed the sentiment, noting: “Probably doesn’t help that she’s wearing the North Korean news anchor colors while saying this.”
Others took the joke further, sharing altered images that appeared to place Leavitt, who announced last month that she is pregnant with her second child, directly into Ri’s on-air wardrobe and arguing that their messaging sounded strikingly similar too.
