Human remains found after fatal shooting and fire in San Bruno, police say

Investigators searching a San Bruno home after a fatal shooting and fire Friday discovered human remains inside the residence, authorities said.
San Bruno police officers responded to reports of a shooting on the 100 block of Keefe Court at about 3 p.m., according to the department. During the response and subsequent investigation, the San Bruno Fire Department was also called to a residential structure fire at the same location.

A 31-year-old man who had sustained gunshot wounds during the incident was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
Investigators located human remains inside the home during a subsequent search.
Police did not say how many sets of remains were found or whether they are connected to the shooting victim. The San Mateo County Coroner's Office will determine the identity and cause of death of the remains, authorities said.
The San Bruno Police Department's Investigative Services Section is leading the criminal investigation. The cause and origin of the fire will be investigated separately by the San Bruno Fire Department.
