Helicopter crashes, lands in river at Meramec State Park, officials say

SULLIVAN, Mo. – A helicopter crashed Thursday afternoon and ended up in a river at Meramec State Park, officials tell FOX 2.
It’s believed crews are working to rescue four occupants who were inside the helicopter when it crashed. Trained swimmers and EMS crews have been deployed to assist with rescue efforts.
It’s unknown what extent of injuries may have occurred from the crash at this time.
Rob Robertson, fire chief for the Sullivan Fire Protection District and Corey Rice, a Sullivan, Missouri Fire Marshall, confirmed with FOX 2 that crews are responding to a helicopter crash at Meramec State Park in Sullivan.

It’s believed the helicopter may have hit power lines or crashed into something else before it ended up in the Meramec River.
A MSHP spokesperson tells FOX 2 that park rangers are one the scene and believes that all occupants are out of the helicopter. The spokesperson added that the aircraft is a private helicopter.
MSHP has dispatched another helicopter to the scene to assist with rescue and response efforts.
