PRATTVILLE − A four-year-old boy was found walking along an Alabama dirt road in frigid conditions Saturday morning, police say.
A passerby saw the boy, dressed in pajamas and socks, walking along a road in the Marbury area of Autauga County on Jan. 31 and called authorities, said Sheriff Mark Harrell. It is believed the child had been outside about half an hour when he was found, Harrell said.
The boy was taken to shelter and is safe, he said.

The child's mother was found about 12:30 p.m. She told investigators she had left the boy in the care of a family member who lived nearby before going to work, Harrell said.
The Department of Human Resources is also investigating the incident, and criminal charges may be filed in the case, Harrell said.
